Along with the third Sunday (Super Sunday) fellowship meal, several other opportunities for fellowship are planned throughout the year. The list below contains information about some of these events.
The “New Life” Bulletin
The bulletin, “New Life”, is published twice a month and emailed to the congregation and posted on this website. The bulletin is more of an official family life record, where things like marriages, births, deaths, etc., are announced. News items and announcements should be in the office by 11:00 AM on Wednesday before each mailing. The mailing/posting dates vary slightly due to the number of weeks in a given month.
Each Wednesday evening everyone is invited to bring their favorite soup (or accompanying dish) for a soup supper before the Bible Study. The meal starts at 6:00 PM.
The third Sunday of each month has been set aside as a special time of fellowship. After the morning service, a pot-luck meal is served in the annex. On this special Sunday, there is no evening service. However, opportunities for afternoon and evening fellowship are often scheduled throughout the year via special groups.
On the Saturday of Labor Day an old fashioned barbecue is held at the Church Annex.
Peaks Hike and Picnic
On the third Sunday of October (Super Sunday) everyone is invited to climb the Peaks of Otter on the Blue Ridge Parkway. for a small fee, a bus will take those not wanting to hike, to a place near the top. A picnic follows the hike. Everyone is invited to enjoy this beautiful, colorful time of the year. The hike and the bus ride are optional.
The adult Christmas Party is a special time. The annex is decorated and a roaring fire burns in the fireplace. This is the ‘dress up’ party of the year. Along with the appetizers and the meal, there is entertainment and good fun. A gift exchange brings the evening to a close. A December date is set to accommodate as many people as possible. The children also have a party time scheduled.
Our youth activities are covered on the Youth Activities page.
